AUSDRISK, explained: how worried should you actually be?

AUSDRISK is a short questionnaire that estimates your risk of type 2 diabetes over the next five years. The score isn't a verdict — it's a prompt.

What it actually measures

Age, waist, family history, activity and a few other factors. It's a risk estimate, not a blood test — a high score means 'worth a proper check', not 'you have diabetes'.

Reading your number

A higher score points to getting a fasting glucose or HbA1c through your GP. A lower one is a green light to keep doing what you're doing — and recheck in a few years.

The unglamorous moves that shift it

Trimming a few centimetres off the waist, a daily walk, and cutting back on liquid sugar move the dial more than any supplement. Small and consistent beats dramatic.
